Learning Objectives

  1. Identify areas of cardiovascular research that offer new inroads to effective therapies.
  2. Discuss research study designs and methods that may improve on current approaches to cardiovascular research.
  3. Examine strengths and weaknesses of the research presented and receive constructive feedback to assist in improvement of future research activities.
  4. Appraise the impact of scholarly activity and clinical research on continuing professional development.
  5. Improve public speaking and presentation skills to effectively present scientific and clinical research findings to the larger medical community.
  6. Explore “what it takes” to become a clinical research investigator in cardiovascular medicine by discussing career challenges such as grant writing, research funding, academic appointments, and publication strategies with leading expert investigators in cardiovascular disease.
